How to improve the drying quality of veneer

16 February,2023

Veneer is also called wood veneer, panel and face veneer. It is a kind of thin wood-like material produced by rotary cutting or sawing. Its thickness is usually 0.4-1.0 mm, and it is mainly used to produce plywood and other laminated wood. Veneer drying is one of the production processes of veneer and plywood. The quality of veneer drying directly affects the quality of veneers and plywood products. At present, veneer production enterprises mainly focus on drying in the sun, which covers a large area, employs more people, takes time and effort, and the drying efficiency and product quality are greatly affected by weather and temperature, which seriously affects the quality and output of veneer. Therefore, the veneer dryer with high efficiency, energy conservation, environmental protection and high degree of automation is the key to reduce the production cost and improve the quality of veneer chips.

Principle of veneer heat pump dryer

The veneer heat pump dryer is based on the inverse Carnot principle. The refrigerant (mostly mixed refrigerant) is compressed by the compressor to become high-temperature and high-pressure gas, which enters the heat exchanger (condenser) through the pipeline, and then sends the heat generated by the heat exchanger to the drying room to heat and dry the material through the fan, so that the veneer can be dried, and the moisture is discharged from the moisture outlet. The dehumidification system has a heat recovery device. The heat recovered is used to heat the fresh air, which can save 60%~70% of the energy consumption of fresh air preheating.

The veneer dryer has high thermal efficiency, small heat loss and even heating of veneer. Therefore, the moisture content of veneer after drying is uniform, the wood color is good, and the inside and outside are consistent, without cracking, bending and deformation.
