What Are Hot Press Veneer Drying Machine and Benefits

12 March,2025

The hot press dryer works similarly to a standard plywood hot press. Here’s how it works:

  • Veneer Feeding: Veneer sheets are fed one by one into the drive rollers. The feeding system allows multiple veneers to be loaded at the same time into the hot press, which then closes.
  • Drying Process: Once the press is closed, it stays in place for a certain amount of time to ensure the drying process is completed. Afterward, the press opens, and the dried veneer sheets are pushed out. They are automatically unloaded, stacked, and sent into the second set of veneers for further drying.

Key Details:

  • Pressure: About 0.35 MPa.
  • Hot Pressing Temperature: Typically set at 150°C.
  • Veneer Treatment: During the drying process, a cover plate with grooves is placed between the veneer and the hot plates to help steam escape from the moisture and resin.

Benefits of Hot Press Drying:

  • Smooth and Flat Veneer: After drying, the veneer becomes smooth and flat, making it perfect for gluing, assembling panels, and continuous hot pressing production.
  • Ideal for Glue-Soaked Veneer: This method is also effective for veneer that has been soaked in glue, ensuring better bonding quality.
  • Energy-Efficient: Compared to jet-type dryers, the hot press dryer saves around 36% in energy consumption.
  • Reduces Shrinkage: This method also helps reduce the shrinkage of veneer in the width direction, leading to better dimensional stability.

In summary, the hot press drying machine is not only energy-efficient but also helps improve veneer quality, making it perfect for high-quality production lines.
